What does the footwell module actually control?
On the BMWs it's fitted to, the FRM handles the exterior lighting, the windows, the mirrors and the wipers. That's why its failure is so distinctive: several unrelated things stop working at the same moment, which makes it look like a much bigger electrical problem than it is.
My lights and windows died at the same time. Is it the FRM?
It's the usual explanation for that particular combination, especially if it happened after a dead battery, a jump start or a battery replacement. We'd rather confirm it than assume, so tell us the model and year — you don't need to diagnose it yourself.
Do I have to buy a new module?
Usually not, and that's the point of repairing one. We update the software on your existing module rather than replacing it with another unit, so the module stays matched to your car.
Can I ship you my module?
No. Service is in person only — we do not offer mail-in module repair. The car or the module needs to come to the shop at 737 Hamilton Rd Unit 2, London, or we come to the vehicle.
